The importance of a to-the-point headline…
One of the world’s best known copywriters, Bob Stone, once said about it…
“Your first 15 words count more than the 15,000 words that follow!”
And any serious copywriter and most successful bloggers agree with the statement- actually putting the advice to use every day.
Because it’s simply the truth! People are so hasty nowadays that if they’re not grabbed by the throat in the first few lines by an article, they simply click away. (Hopefully you are still reading now…)
So if the Headline then already sucks… you won’t stand a chance!
Those first few words that you write, your headline, defines if your article stands out. And if they are written in haste, most probably you did not give it much thought… Yet, they count for 50% of the success of your entire copy-writing project.
For those people, the good news is that some formulas exist that you can use to speed up your headline writing process…But like said before, in today’s rush, it’s hard to spend 90% of your time coming up with a winning headline. This is especially true if you’re trying to mass-produce content on a day-to-day basis.
On the other hand, you can always rewrite, adjust or re-invent the headline after you’ve posted the article, till you’re satisfied and sure that it will stick. That’s the beauty of internet….
What are these Headline Formulas?
The way to use these formulas for maximum effectiveness is to take the time to write at least 5 different headline versions using each formula. This will force your creative brain to flow and give you enough headlines to split-test in your marketing campaign.

But one rule stays up every time… TEST TEST TEST!
Test your headline; write it, lay it aside for a while, read it again, etc. Test it and re-test it.
This of course also applies for the article itself. It does not only improves your article but also search engines like Google and Bing will index your article again after it has been changed. This way your article stays “alive” and will pop up high in the search results.
